“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
1 Timothy 3:16
2017 YB5 is a wonderful opportunity to encourage your family, friends and neighbors to read the entire New Testament in a year by investing only 5 minutes a day. It is life changing.
Your pastor will give you six YB5 reading guides/bookmarks. Use one for yourself and give the others away to people you invite to participate.
One way to approach people is the following: “May I ask you a question?” After they say, “Yes” ask, “When was the last time you read the entire New Testament?” Depending on what they answer, you can explain that it takes only 5 minutes a day and show them the reading guide/bookmark. If they have electronic devices, click on the button below:
When people agree to participate, encourage them at least once a week. It might be as simple as calling, emailing or texting to ask something like, “What impressed you in this week’s readings?”
Some people invite their participants to a weekly home discussion group. Others invite them to a special Sunday school class organized to answer questions that first-time readers of the Bible always have.
Most pastors of participating churches will preach following the reading schedule in 2017. Where appropriate, invite the people in your group to attend church with you to hear your pastor’s insights about the scriptures you read that week.
2017 YB5 is a great way for people to fall in love with Jesus by reading the New Testament 5 minutes a day.
